Parents

Band parents are how band continues to exist, how we function, and how we thrive!

Besides providing us with students, band parents are the glue that holds our program together. From helping with transportation to braiding hair on competition days, parents make band possible! Being a parent of a band student requires a lot of patience from the beginning days of squeaks, odd trombone noises, and unexpected snare drum sounds, to the emotional performances, awards nights, and last events as your student graduates. Below, you will see a linked PDF with our "Band Parent's Survival Guide", written by one of our own band parents, Kathy Maez. We know that coming into our group can be intimidating because of the fast paced nature of the program, so the handbook was created to help introduce and answer first time band parent questions.

One of the absolute best ways that you can support your child and our program (besides the constant encouragement to practice!) is to join our booster club! If you have never been on a booster club before, this may sound like just one more time consuming commitment to add to your plate. One of the best things about ours is the more parents we have join, the more we can spread out responsibilities. Please see our booster club page for more information.
